How to speed up your computer

How much valuable time do you waste a day in front of a computer because it is too slow.  Mouse clicks and resulting actions are increasingly far apart. Windows open blank and don't fill in for hours. Programs go into non-responding status; sometimes they recover; sometimes they don't. Rebooting temporarily speeds things up but it takes longer and longer to shut down and restart.

Why? You ask. The speed of light hasn't changed. The circuits can't be slower than on the day you bought your computer. Why is it then you are facing all these problems and wasting your time.

Computers can seem to run slow for many reasons. There are no magic tricks to speed up a slow computer. One must try to determine the nature of the slowness and what factors are causing it. Is it always slow, or just sometimes? If sometimes, then when is the slowness noticed? Does it take forever for the computer to start up? Are there any error messages or other warnings?

Unfortunately, many people point the finger at damaged or corrupted hardware for the problem – citing that this system requires a “large capacity of system resources” in order to work correctly. There are a number of easily curable problems that are more likely to be causing the slow speed. Most of the time, software problems are the cause of a slow system - making it essential that you’re able to clean out any of the possible problems that are causing your system to run slower.

Not only this but many other things factor into the lagging of performance, such as where data is fragmented on a disc can effect how your system can find and use it. How many different programs are active and running at any given time, if a disc is full and not kept fragmented then data is spread about taking the controller arm on the disk longer to locate all pieces of any given information.

Virus and spy ware are an extremely common problem as people do not properly know how to avoid them.

Few things to help you speed up your computer

You can avoid viruses by downloading an anti virus software such as AVG. Also it depends on the RAM it has. If it has too little RAM then the computer needs to place data it needs to access temporarily on the hard drive making the process slower. If you have too much it will take to long to locate the data and will make the process slower. At least 1 gigabyte to 2 gigabytes of RAM is recommended.

Futhermore remove all the big files from your desktop. If your hard disk is full get some external usb hard disk and move all your movies and pictures there. Then update you antivirus and antispyware and run a full scan. After that a defragmentation is a good idea.

Increase virtual memory to enhance the slow computer performance. If you find yourself running out of virtual memory, or keep getting messages showing you the low virtual memory, you had better increase it immediately. To do this, please:
* Right click "My Computer"--Properties
